EU trade defence

The EU’s trade defence system which comprises of an anti-dumping regulation and anti-subsidy regulation is based on WTO rules.

Dumping results when a company exports a product to another country at prices below their normal value, that is below the price established for the product to be placed on the domestic market (of the third country) or below the cost of production.

Subsidisation is when a State makes a financial contribution to the limited benefit of a specific firm, industry or group of firms or industries. Export subsidies and subsidies contingent on the use of domestic over imported goods are deemed to be specific.
