The Department offers dynamic career paths for economists, involving impactful work on public policy issues crucial to Malta’s economic development. Positions range from macroeconomic analysts to taxation and benefits specialists, providing opportunities for specialization and professional growth. Our collaborative environment encourages economists to contribute meaningfully to policy formulation and work alongside experts in various economic domains. The Department is made of a relatively small and young team of specialists, mostly economists. The career path usually starts from the grade of economics officer. Officers can progress gradually to various scales of senior economics officers and chief economics officer, based on performance, seniority and educational attainment. These are predominantly technical grades which involve greater elements of management responsibilities commensurate with the grade.
